What is LIFE?

The LIFE programme is the European Union’s funding instrument for the environment and climate action. Its objective is to contribute to the implementation, updating and development of EU environmental and climate policy and legislation by co-financing projects with added value.

LIFE began in 1992 and since then there have been four complete phases of the programme (LIFE I: 1992-1995, LIFE II: 1996-1999, LIFE III: 2000-2006, y LIFE +: 2007-2013). During these years, LIFE has co-financed around 4000 projects across the EU, investing more than 3000 million Euros in the protection of the environment.

In the context of supporting new solutions to tackle environmental problems, LIFE is financing the project LIFE PRIORAT+MONTSANT for the period 2016-2020.
